Wandering Loneliness
A downloadable game
A small top-down pixel-based game engine for the University of Bath Computer Science Society Game Jam 2019. Walk forward with "W" and rotate with "A" and "D" to traverse the map. You start in the top-left corner so it is advised to walk south-west if anywhere.
What was originally planned to be a top-down exploration game about a child lost in the big city trying to find her way home turned into the workings for a top-down pixel-based game engine written in Java via Processing and using pixel-plotting to display with "true" pixel artstyle that rotates with matrix transforms. Though the game is not fully fleshed out, the demo uploaded showcases the development made on this game engine over the two days of the game jam, and shows off the movement and rotation features, as well as the animated sprites and tiles and dialogue system.

Ahh this is so great how you used a spreadsheet to plot the map tiles! Super inspiring :D would be great if anyone using the engine wanted to make their own levels too :)
